INTRODUCTION


Region Lazio and City of Rome Tourist Board was formed in order to ensure the unity and the coordination of Tourism Promotion Operations within Rome and Region Lazio in Italy and throughout the world.The Agency developed as the sole Body responsible for Tourism Promotion, this latter being perceived  as the instrument of knowledge of tourist destinations, opportunities for companies operating within the  sector to achieve new markets and means of communication, messages, values and content.
ATLazio is a Limited Company entirely owned by public share holders such as Regione Lazio -Lazio Region-  (51%), Comune di Roma -The City of Rome- (19%), Provincia di Roma -The Province of Rome-  (10%),The  Provinces of Frosinone, Latina, Rieti e Viterbo (3% each)  and Unioncamere Lazio (8%).


The Agency constitutes with the implementation of the Regional Law 13/2007  concerning the Organisation of the Tourism System in Region Lazio, Law aiming to establish regulations, competences and roles of the different business players operating in the tourism sector and setting important objectives. Through the Promotion Master Plan ATLazio has both developed strategies to consolidate and retain the traditional external markets and carried out more projects vital to aim to the emerging markets without neglecting the Italian one.
Among the main strategies, the active presence of the Agency at the Main International Business Fairs, the presentation of Tourist Destinations abroad, the B2B meetings amongst Tour and Media  Operators and Press Communication abroad are of vital importance.


In order to make the promotion strategies more effective, the Agency boost “special projects” such as  the system of characterization, qualification and selection of tourist business called “Grand Tour Operators” and the project “Trova gusto nel Lazio”  -find taste in Lazio- in collaboration with the Italian Touring Club. In addition to the Promotion Plan is the implementing of a Multimedia and Communication Plan: The Official Agency Website, advertising campaigns, promotional material, packaging, gadgets, audio-visual productions.  The Agency provides a technical structure aiming to support the Osservatorio regionale del turismo -Regional Observatory of Tourism- set up at the Tourism Council of Region Lazio.The Observatory will ensure the monitoring of the market through the detection of tourist flows in real time, as well as the creation of data storage allowing carrying out studies and research on issues related to the dynamics of tourism. It will be the one instrument capable to provide a reliable prospect of tourism magnitude and support plans as well as strategies implemented by institutions.


The new promotion guidelines have involved institutions and companies that found new ground for cooperation and sharing: The Conferenza interistituzionale -Inter-institutional Conference- is set up within The Region Lazio head offices and gathers Tourism Councillors of the Provinces while the Ufficio del partnerariato -Partnership Office- is set up within the Agency primacies and it is composed by representatives of the main business associations.
